KLR was founded in 1975 and has grown to a 125 person firm with two offices, Providence and Newport. With our wide diversity of business experience, the professional team prides itself on providing clients with workable, cost-effective solutions to their accounting, tax and business needs.

We are the largest accounting firm in Rhode Island and the 11th largest firm in New England. Additionally, KLR was recently recognized as the fastest-growing firm in New England (Practical Accountant, September 2007). We attribute this growth to our commitment to client service, to the application of creative and practical approaches to our meeting our clients’ needs and to the retention and utilization of experienced and capable professionals

The KLR philosophy emphasizes professional staff continuity whenever possible. We recognize that continuity enhances the client relationship, provides for greatest efficiency and is least disruptive of client personnel. We are committed to continuing those personnel policies that have allowed us to achieve an enviable retention record. We were recently named one of the Best Places to Work in Rhode Island (PBN, February 2006/September 2007).

We are a registered member of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). We go through a rigorous peer review every three years to ensure the quality of our work is in accordance with our professional standards.

We are members of the Leading Edge Alliance (LEA), an affiliation of CPA firms throughout the United States and abroad. LEA member firms work in many different business cultures with a commitment to the highest standards of client care. This affiliation enables us to offer services and expertise to almost any client situation around the world.

We are members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Division for CPA Firms, a voluntary organization of firms established to foster quality performance.
