Lawrence I. Kahn, CPA, MST

Mr. Kahn graduated cum laude from the University of Rhode
Island with a B.S. in Accounting in 1971 and from Bentley
College with a Masters of Science in Taxation in 1980. He
was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies
while at the University of Rhode Island.
His career in public accounting began in
1971 with the Boston office of Coopers and Lybrand and continued
at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co. in Providence, Rhode Island.
In 1975, he started his own public accounting practice, which
has become the largest Providence-based CPA firm. Mr. Kahn
provides sound financial advice to several of the firm’s
largest clients. He serves as a trusted business partner to
those clients on such matters as mergers and acquisitions,
succession planning and financing. In addition, Mr. Kahn provides
advisory services to law firms who require a Certified Public
Accountant to review financial documents and provide written
conclusions for use concerning pending litigation.
Mr. Kahn’s professional memberships
include organizations at local, national and international
levels; the Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants;
the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, where
he is a member of the tax and the personal financial planning
divisions; The Leading Edge Alliance and Kreston International.
In addition, Mr. Kahn is a member of the Rhode Island Estate
Planning Council.
Mr. Kahn is currently on the board of directors
of The Phoenix Houses of New England, Inc., The Leading Edge
Alliance, Nationwide Retirement Education Institute, and the
Jewish Federation of RI. In the past, he has served as president
of Accountants for the Public Interest of Rhode Island, Inc.;
vice chair of The Wheeler School; vice president of Marathon,
Inc.; treasurer of Challenge House, Inc.; treasurer of the
Foundation for Repertory Theatre of Rhode Island; president
of the Ledgemont Country Club; board member of Newport International
Film Festival, and as a member of the board of directors of
Temple Beth El.
