Alan H. Litwin, CPA, MST, MBA

Mr. Litwin received his B.A. in Economics at Lafayette College
in 1979 and graduated with honors from Bryant College with
a Masters of Science in Taxation in 1987. While at Bryant,
he was a member of the Delta Mu Delta honor society. He graduated
cum laude with a Masters in Business Administration in 1980
from Rutgers University, where he was a member of the Beta
Gamma Sigma honor society.
He began his career in public accounting
in 1980 with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co., before joining
Mr. Kahn in practice in 1983.
Mr. Litwin is a member of the American Institute
of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in the management
consulting, technology and tax divisions, and the Rhode Island
Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he has served
on several committees. In addition, he is a member of the
Rhode Island Estate Planning Council, and the Medial Group
Management Association. He is also a founding member of the
Leading Edge Alliance, an association of leading accounting
firms.
In the area of civic activity, Mr. Litwin
was honored with the 1994 Merrill L. Hassenfeld Community
Service Award by the Jewish Federation of RI, in recognition
of his many charitable and community service activities. He
also received the Max Alperin Leadership Award in 2004. He
is currently a Board member and was campaign chair for the
2005 and 2006 annual campaigns of the Jewish Federation of
RI. He is President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees
of The Wheeler School, and also an alumni representative for
Lafayette College. Mr. Litwin is currently Secretary of the
Board of Trustees of Miriam Hospital and sits on both the
Miriam Hospital Finance Committee and the Rhode Island Provider
Finance Committee for Lifespan. He is also member of the Board
of Trustees of the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council,
serves on the Federal Affairs Committee of the Greater Chamber
of Commerce and serves on the Board of Directors of Temple
Emanuel.
He has served as Vice President of the Jewish
Federation of Rhode Island; treasurer of YMCA– Camp
Fuller; as President, Vice-President, Treasurer and departmental
chairman at the Jewish Community Center; a member of the Brown-RISD
Hillel advisory board; a board member of Jewish Family Service;
a board member of the Jewish Home Corporation; a board member
of the Jewish Seniors Agency; a board member of the Fox Point
East Side Little League; and a member of the charity committee
of Ledgemont Country Club. In addition, Alan was one of the
founding board members of Rhode Island Kids Count, a child
advocacy group and served as the group’s Treasurer.
He has also coached several children’s teams in baseball
and basketball.
