John S. Renza, Jr., CPA, MBA

Mr. Renza received his B.S., magna cum laude, in Business
Administration at Bryant University in 1970 and was a member
of the Delta Mu Delta honor society. He also graduated from
Providence College with a Masters of Business Administration
in 1979.
He began his career in public accounting in 1970 with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co., before establishing his own practice in 1975. Mr. Renza then joined Larry Kahn and Alan Litwin in practice in January 1999. In addition, Mr. Renza is a Professor of Accounting at the Community College of Rhode Island. He provides several of the firm's larger clients with such advisory services as tax planning, healthcare consulting, business valuations, investment strategies and venture capital and mezzanine financing. Mr. Renza has also served as an expert witness on several financial issues in both Federal and State courts.
Mr. Renza's professional affiliations include
membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
(AICPA). He was a recipient of the Institute's 1995 Public
Service Award. Mr. Renza is also a member of the Rhode Island
Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he has served
as the Director of the Society, Chairperson of the Public
Information Committee and Chairperson of the Legislative Committee.
In addition, Mr. Renza is a member of the Rhode Island Board
of Accountancy - Continuing Education Advisory Board, the
Institute of Business Appraisers, the Estate Planning Council
of RI and is a former member of the Association of Governing
Boards of Universities and Colleges.
In the area of civic activity,
Mr. Renza is actively involved. He served as the President
of the University Club. For Bryant University, he serves as
Honorary Trustee of Bryant University Board of Trustees and
also serves the school as a member of their Accounting Advisory
Council. He is a past member of the Bryant University Honorary
Degree Committee, past chairperson of the Bryant University
Board of Trustees - Finance Committee, past co-chairperson
for the Bryant College Presidential Search Committee and past
president and treasurer of the Bryant University Alumni Association.
For Moses Brown School, Mr. Renza served as a member of the
Investment Committee and is the former treasurer of Moses
Brown School, former chairperson of the Budget and Finance
Committee, former Trustee of Moses Brown School Board of Overseers,
and past treasurer of the Moses Brown Parents' Association.
Mr. Renza served as the treasurer of the Committee to Re-elect
United States Senator John Chafee, Chair of the Board of the
RIPBS Foundation and he is a Governor of RI Hospital, a member
of the Rhode Island Commodores and a Trustee of the Greater
Providence Chamber of Commerce. He is a mentor for Year-up
and the Chair of the Capital Campaign at the Community College
of Rhode Island. He served as a member of the Medical School
Parents Council at Brown University and a member of the Board
of Trustees for the Audubon Society of Rhode Island. Mr. Renza
is the past Director and Treasurer of the Greater Cranston
Chamber of Commerce, a former Commissioner of the Cranston
Housing Authority, the former Chairperson of the Board of
the Rhode Island Telecommunications Authority and served as
National Chairperson of the Bryant Fund in 1985.
A Cranston native, Mr. Renza currently resides
in Hope, Rhode Island with his wife, Marianne. They have two
sons, John and Gregory.
